I'm planning on getting the Nikkor 70-300mm lens from Adorama for my Nikon D200, and they're going for $120 and are gray market.
http://www.adorama.com/NK70300AFGB.html
Should I trust this? Doesn't gray market just mean "made in a different country?"|||It's an inexpensive lens and you won't be giving it for autofocus adjustments or servicing till any problem occurs. Adorama is a good dealer. Go ahead and buy it.|||Grey market means that model was not intended by the manufacturer to be sold in this country. It is not illegal, but it has caveats. It may come with instructions that are in a foreign language. not too much of a problem as a lens should be "self-explanatory" but could be a big problem with a complex camera with menus. It will not have a factory warranty.
Buying grey market means you will be dependent of the seller (adorama in this case) for your service and support needs. if you move or travel a lot, that could be a difficulty.|||No longer a professional photographer but I used to buy from Adorama all the time with no troubles and they had a good reputation, no idea what they're like now, but I expect still top notch. A grey market lens is built no differently than any other lens or camera. The price difference is they weren't intended for the the US market. A lot of it is intended for markets with favorable trade policies and less regulation when it comes to warranties and insurance.|||B%26amp;H gray market items are serviced by B%26amp;H if they break.
Perhaps Adorama has a similar policy. Adorama is considered a trustworthy vendor.

Are there any hair color products on the market that will enhance my gray hair?
I've tried to dye my hair back to the original color, but my grays are too resistent and the color won't "take".|||Shimmering Lights is a good product for enhancing gray hair. You can also use it with blonde highlighted hair...just do not leave it on overnight as I did once...you will have purple hair for weeks! LOL|||You are most welcome and happy enhancing! LOL thanks!

I figure with my dark skin-tone, silver will look cool.

Where can I download Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 for a good price direct to computer?
I am looking for an authentic version, not pirated.
It was $149 (retail) in box from Best Buy and I know I can do better than that.
But I'm not looking to skimp just to get a grey market product. It needs to be authentic.
Ideally I could direct download to my computer now and have the discs sent to me as well.|||Well why not search the web in your country to get the best possible price and have them mail it to you. In the meantime download the trial version from the Microsoft website and use that. When your product arrives in the mail you can then enter the registration key that's printed on the product packaging and then when on the net click the authenticate button and away you go - best of both worlds

What is gray market.I'm looking to buy a camera?
when asking about cameras|||adorama.com has some gray market products
they explain what gray market is and how it works|||A gray market camera is a camera which is identical to what you'd get (with US warranty) - but it was imported via a third party, instead of through the official distributor.
You'd save a little, but if it breaks, you'd have to send it to someone else (usually provided by the seller) instead.
Not worth saving that sort of money because you may have problem getting it repaired, even if you want to pay for it, once the "warranty" runs out.|||To further explain, be informed that Nikon will not repair a gray market camera. If you buy a Nikon camera or lens that was not officially imported by Nikon USA, they will not repair it under warranty. AND, they won't repair it in any case, even if you offer to pay. Independent service centers can do minor repairs, but won't be able to send it in for any technical support.
That's like buying a car that the maker won't supply original parts for.

What is a good brand of filter for Nikon lenses? What types of common filters do most photographers need?
Is Hoya a good brand? Do grey market filters exist just like grey market cameras and lenses? And if it does exist, is it better to stick with the USA brand? Thanks in advance for any advice.|||Most filter effects can be added by software later. These days I would not bother with any sort of coloured filter.
The only two I find I am using in the field for landscape photography are a Circular Polarized and a Graduated Neutral Density Filter.
I do not use a UV filter to 'protect' the front of the lens, instead I take care with my gear. I believe that any extra element placed over the lens must introduce some type of distortion no matter how small.
The Circular Polarized filter should be a standard part of any photographer's kit. Hoya is a good brand but they have different levels. The "Super Quality" ones are better although more expensive.
Graduated Neutral Density filters are a different creature. The only ones usable are a style like the Cokin system where there is an adapter and then a square filter that can slide through the mount and thus be adjusted. This involves some initial expense setting up as you will need adapters for each different lens diameter that you have. It is the only system that works satisfactorily in my view however.
Regards, teef_au|||Hoya is a good brand of filters. Very reputable. I have some Hoya filters that are just fine.
You really dont need to spend a ton of $$$ on filters.|||The two basic filter I use and recommend are UV and florescent light filters. You can get these fairly cheap at most stores that sell cameras. I like using them to help save the lens of my camera. Better to have these $15 filters get scratched or broken, than a $200-$300 lens. Hoya is a good brand, not only for filters, but lenses and other accessories as well.

Wierd desire!!! I've got ALOT of premature grey hair, and rather than trying to keep it covered up, I want to find a shade of grey to blend it. There used to be several nice ones on the market, but I can't find any.|||Nice 'n Easy from Clairol has a selection of grey colors. Check out the local Wal Mart hair color section and see what you can find. There may be other brands as well.|||i just have 1 question?? why would you want to die ur hair Grey??????|||Grey/silver is beautiful. Go for it. There was a clerk at a Von's store with it all grey/silver. I know she was too young, but it looked great! It's as good a color option as any.

the investor? This is not a solicitation for business, I am looking for new ideas for marketing. I am one of two people marketing and we are active in the investment. Any respondants will create a mailing list for the investment. Otherwise, you can offer a similar free report about misconceptions or challenges in securities investing that paint a good picture about your product.

Don't know enough about their pricing but, Apple generally over prices their products. Gray market is a form of arbitrage so, if they're over pricing in one market it is entirely possible someone is taking advantage of it.

I work for a local division of a large photocopier manufacturer and we get next to no support from the National Marketing department. I cant think of anything or any angle to use to make this grey box seem sexy %26amp; exciting without the use of body parts! ;)|||Don't concentrate on the box, concentrate on what they will *do* with it. For example, Ad 1 shows somebody running their dream small business of selling hotdogs or coffee or something and printing their first menu. Ad 2 shows somebody printing out their first novel and faxing it to a publisher. Ad 3 shows somebody running for office and making their own fliers.

What is gray market cameras (DSLR)?
Are they legal? what is the difference between a camera bought in a legal distributor against gray market? what do they mean of "columbian warranty?" thanks for the help.|||Philippines? Nikon.
Columbia is one of the authorized distributors of Nikon in the country. This means that they are one of the few licensed by Nikon, Japan to sell Nikon cameras to the country. They do sell not only through their stores but through other outlets they supply.
Buying a Nikon from another distributor makes it a gray market camera. It doesn't matter if you bought it from another authorized Nikon distributor in Singapore or Japan. It is still gray market. Legal has no bearing. All stores are legal. All cameras are original. It's just their distributing system policy. We can't argue with them about that.
Columbia's warranty effectively tells you that you are their first priority if your camera needs servicing. If you have a gray market camera, they can still accept it for servicing but you will be their last priority and you will have to pay more for service and parts. Last time I heard, Columbia does not accept gray market cameras anymore.
If you have international warranty, you will have to pay for the camera's air fare to the International Service Center of Nikon abroad. I think they pay for the trip back but I'm not sure.
If you don't like getting your Nikon from Columbia, you can try the other Authorized Nikon Distributor in the country. Camerahaus. http://camerahaus.com/
Sure there are other sellers, especially from sulit, com and ebay.ph that offer much, much lower prices than Camerahaus or Columbia. The problem will be servicing and later than sooner, your camera will need it. It is highly advisable to get your Nikon from either of the two.
There is a way to get a huge discount from Camerahaus. If you dig deep enough at http://digitalphotographer.com.ph/ you will find the contact number of the owner. You will have to be a member of DPP first and you must follow their rules, especially the real name as username part. Look for "spam price". Considering the price of the Pentax K-x if you walk-in to the store, I got mine at a lower price of the body only with the lens given practically free with all accessories included using the method described at that DPP thread. How's that for a bargain?|||Legal? Yes, but you would have to send the camera to a non-official repair facility if you want to get it repaired in the US, etc., under warrantee. Nikon is notorious for this: if you want your "gray market" camera repaired under warrantee you will probably have to send it overseas for repairs. For some things this might be worth it but if you want your camera back sooner when you need your camera repaired spend the extra money and get "USA" market cameras ONLY. B%26amp;H Photo sells some stuff that is "gray market" that they warrantee themselves so it really does depend on the item as to whether or not its worth it. Sometimes the availability dictates that you don't have a choice and sometimes there is no price difference at all - in that case go with the NON gray market.|||Gray market products are legal, but were made for another market - probably Columbia in your example. You can get a good deal and the products are legal to be sold here, but the instructions may be in another language and the warranty may or may not be valid in this country.|||A gray market product means it is one which is generally sold in and warrantied by a division of the company in a different sales market. For example, I live in the US and can purchase a camera sold through a US distributor and warrantied here in the US. Or, online I could purchase a gray market camera which might be warrantied in Japan, or in the case you ask about, Columbia. This is perfectly legal, but it means for product support or to use the warranty, you will need to contact the Colombian division of the camera company.
How do i know if a nikon camera is gray market?
also for lenses? because im looking into second hand items|||Gray market goods are unauthorized imports. It's not wise to purchase gray market because most manufacturer warranties are region-specific. The user interface and charger may also be different.
Indications of gray market goods:
- Missing warranty card or 3rd party warranty service replacement
- Product branding (ex. Canon brands their P%26amp;S cameras with the PowerShot name for the Americas and the IXUS name for Europe)
- Missing, incorrect, or 3rd party charger/battery
- Missing manuals or manuals for a different language
- Default UI language is uncommon in the region
- Missing, illegible, damaged, or suspicious serial numbers
If you're buying second hand it won't really matter. Most manufacturer warranties do not carry over with the product after a switch of ownership. Also, buying used goods on eBay or any place on the internet (international auctions, classifieds, forums, etc.) obviously increases the chance of receiving goods from other countries.|||use a trustworthy site|||Gray market normally doesn't matter for used gear.
Gray market means that genuine Nikon (or any other brand) products were legally sold outside of their intended market. In other words, these are 100% legitimate items, which underwent the usual quality control, but weren't imported by the official distributor.
The up side for the customer is that they are a little bit cheaper.
The down side for the customer is that they don't have the usual one-year warranty for repairs.
Many completely reputable stores offer you a choice. And they are upfront about the difference. On the other hand, many fraudulent stores try to pass off gray market items as official imports, and the customer only finds out later that they were scammed out of a warranty.
If gray market items are sold on the used market after the warranty has already expired, the distinction doesn't matter anymore - they are the exact same products.
If you absolutely, positively want to know if a specific product is/ was a gray import, you'll have to do some Google searching based on serial numbers.

What is "Gray Market"? How it works?
Please describe gray markets as a marketting channel.|||That depends on the item for sale. But let's take what I know about for starters. I've been looking for a lens for a camera I'll be buying soon, a Canon EF 16-35 f2.8 L USM lens. The authorized dealer price is $1399.95 vs $1359.95 gray market. Now in this case I would never go for the gray (imported) market lens because of the slight difference in cost. But what you are usually saving in trade for shipping the item back to the country of destination for repair is worth it. But by buying the authorized dealer sold lens I can get it repaired at a photo shop in my neighborhood.
To better target your question now that you have an example to focus on is, gray market is in this case, a lens, made on the same assembly line ans is exactly the same lens, but because they chose to sell for a higher profit margin than Canon would pay them for it, Canon refuses to allow local photoshops to repair it. It is circumventing the OEM original equipment manufacturer. Below is an example with the lens I referred to:|||bad idea! a gray market is an illegal market set up by those who try to sell smugulled goods. its usually prevelant in countries where excise duties are sky high and people cannot afford foreign goods. also in such places local goods are pathetically low quality. buyers buy goods in a different country and sell them illegally at a particular place. the gray market also means a system of cashing in on scarecity.
i have a distinct feeling that i might have confused some things with black markets. sorry. :)|||tats generally a place where u get smuggled goods for low prices.. generally no taxes for goods from there..\
but be carefull of wat u buy cause there is a possibility they may be fake

Any ideas on a marketing dissertation question about older people and travel?
Hi I'm doing a marketing dissertaion and want a good research question to base it on. I'm interested in the grey market and the leisure travel industry but am not sure about what question to base my dissertation on. Will appreciate any suggestions or ideas, thanks.|||you can research what types of things in travel ads, such as photos of people, or places or certain words that seniors respond most positively to. I have read somewhere seniors tend to relate themselves to those about 10 years younger than them. So usually ads that show people in their 50s being active do very well with those just retiring and are in there 60s, they also respond well to pictures of families etc|||yea, i think companies would pay a lot of money to know how much income an older (thinking retired here) person has to make in order for them to be a certain 'kind' of traveller.
ie - week long cruise ship trips to alaska - the average person who is over 65 who goes on this trip lives on 'above $x,XXX.00 dollars a year'
people over 65 who rent RV's and travel the US usually make over $xx thousands of dollars per year.
makes for good graphs for visuals.
gives good, fun options for WHICH types of travel you want to research.
as stated - sellable to companies once you have the information.
also, most companies selling 'go on this trip with us' products keep information on ages participants.|||One that would garner their answers -- and give you channels of discovery would be "what keeps you from traveling more often?"... and that pun of "grey" market should be kept to yourself %26amp; out of print in your dissertation, as it's insulting.
The basis of your work, could be to turn-around the hesistation.. to recognize %26amp; target the though process, beyong "no money to travel" -- since you can focus on those that have plenty of time and savings, and the lifelong thought they were anticipating these days.. and still... don't seem to move around, as easily as they could. Or might. Or, sure might afford.

I've got grey squirrels in my loft, how can I get rid of them?
I've got grey squirrels in my loft, how can I get rid of them? Are there any devices on the market which would deter them? Sonic devices or even traps?|||Call teh Pest control its more effective and safer. If you insist on getting rid of them your self maybe try mouse traps but Good Luck though =) and be careful!|||yeah, a rabbit sized live trap baited with wheat bread stuck down with peanut butter, and get 2-3 different brands of sonic emitter, this creates a cacophony that drives the squirrels out, once they are all gone, use 1/4" heavy chicken wire over all the soffet holes and vents, staplegun from the inside so you dont really see it, and get a cat, the cat pee smell scares squirrels, they also make squirrel away spray, but i find it doesn't work.|||try offering a food supply via feeder in a differant part of your yard. once they have moved to an easly accessable food supply, close off where they are getting in.|||pest control will save you a lot of trouble, headache, time and possiblely attacks from angry squirrels.|||Better than bats in your belfry.
Is porsche 944 a gray market car & what is a gray market car " do they have a us version"?
"srry for a long question"|||Most Porsche cars, including the 944, have been produced in two major variations... US, and RoW (Rest Of the World). The US cars have heavier bumpers, are generally set to higher ride heights, and usually have engines that produce a little less power (generally due to emissions requirements). And due to crash testing requirements, some of the most desirable Porsche models were never made in US trim by the factory (964 RS, Original GT3, 959, etc).
A grey market car is one that was imported from elsewhere in the world, and then brought up to US standards. If done properly, these can be very desirable cars as they often have options and additional performance compared to US versions... but that is a VERY big IF as most that were imported were done by people looking to make a quick buck. A car that was not brought up to standards correctly will at best be a major and costly headache, and at worst, will have major safety issues.
However, the 944 was most definitely produced in a US version. If you are in the United States, pretty much all 944s you will find will be US versions... and the few grey market cars will also be road legal in the US. If you are in another country, you will only have the RoW version, but this would be the version that would be legal in that country.|||The 944 was sold all over the world. If the car was sold in the US then it is not a Gray Market car. Gray market cars are ones that didn't meet the Department Of Transportation requirements here in the US and someone bought it outside the US and imported it and made modifications to it to satisfy the DOT prior to registered. The term federalized was used back then. Sometimes these cars did and sometimes they didn't have a comparable car on each side of the ocean. Porsche produced both US and European versions and there are other versions out there that are unique to Japan, Australia, Switzerland, etc.
The Porsche VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) would look something like WPOZZZ... The ZZZ is an indicator that it was a European delivered car.|||The Porsche 944 was produced for the United States, however a non-US version was also built. The US version had to meet federal requirements for safety and smog (Department of Transportation -DOT). Some people would purchase a car outside the US and modify it to comply with US standards. The majority of them were done poorly and are a nightmare to keep running. The main modifications were bumper speed rating and emissions. If you add cheap emissions parts to a non-US car, it will work and pass the smog test when new, however using cheap parts will only cost the buyer more money in the future as these parts do not fulfill the OEM requirements.
The term Gray market means it's not a white market car - 100% clean from the factory, nor is it a black market car - 100% illegal. It's right in the middle and if you're thinking of purchasing one, give it a lot of consideration - you could be buying a lemon.
I hope this helps.
Greg|||prior to about 1984 a lot of European cars came to this country and weren't set up for our strict emission requirements. those cars we called gray market cars and there are still a few imported in today. gray market means they had to be retrofited to fit our laws. your car may fit into this catergory.|||If you live in the U.S., you should have seen many of them by now.

Any thoughts on a gray market Canon T2i?
getitdigital has an interesting bundle and we're considering it. Thanks.|||A gray market T2i is probably not a bad thing if you want to save some cash (though you won't get a US warranty from Canon). However, what worries me the most is the crappy bundles they are offering.
I went to getitdigital to check them out and having seen what they are offering, I recommend you AVOID any camera with a bundle. The bundles include cheap and crappy lenses and crappy 'adapter' lenses are included as proper lenses.
Remember, if it's real cheap...it's cheap for a reason.
The only cheap extra lens I see worth getting (that is offered in some bundles) is the EF 50mm f/1.8 II. It's cheap and plasticky but has very good optical quality and is good for portraits and low light. You can easily buy it for less than US$90 separately.
The bundles all include very slow (Class 2) SDHC cards...which are much too slow for the T2i. You need a fast Class 6 (or ideally a Class 10 card) for the T2i, particularly when recording full HD video.
So, I recommend you NO NOT be tempted by these camera bundles. You'd be better off just buying the camera with kit lens (as a starter) or body only and a better lens.|||Hold on to your wallet.

got an assignment need HELP HELP HELP !!!!! :| :| :| :||||1. you need to understand the nature of grey market eg, what is the nature of trade there. people are nice to client or more into making ppl fool.
2. Product price marking of same product eg, as there are so many Nokia 6600 but prices are different at every shop. so you have to make sure weather the products are in good quality or not.
3. From where the products are coming into the Grey Market. bcz sometime you can find your stolen cellphone in the grey market. it's mean tht market is not legal.

3. From where the products are coming into the Grey Market. bcz sometime you can find your stolen cellphone in the grey market. it's mean tht market is not legal.
all these are the challenges you may face in grey market.

hope i understood your question well and reply accordingly.|||I provided you a link that I think will provide you some good background and discussion. It also links to various articles. I think it will give you the material you need.

I bought a new Wagon R (1Ltr K Series) and looking for side mouldings in Body Colour (Grey).
Is it available in Market? What cost?|||If i'm not mistaken, I think Maruti offers a body kit for the wagon R directly from the showroom.
Check the website for the wagonR accessories, or ask at your showroom. I think the pricing for the whole kit should be around 20-30k. Don't quote me on it, i'm not sure.

I have tried to help a friend of mine troubleshooting it without luck. When I researched it on the internet, they were so many "victims" with the same issues, blurry images, autofocus super slow, battery killer, the list goes on. Not worth the trouble. Carfax report has only the Vin# and two notes about an Audi that appear at 51,600 miles. Legit or Grey Markt?
I am thinking of purchasing this car and the carfax report does not include the model or make of the car as it usually does, but just the VIN number. Also, the there are only two notes on the report and the first one was made after 51,000 miles? I asked the dealer and he stated that Audi/Volkswagon owned the car and since it was used by the dealer they did not send the info out (I am forgetting now, but I think he said they did not send the info out to the dmv) Can anyone shed some light on this situation? Specifically, under what circumstances this may be plausible? Title washing? Grey Market cars? Vin cloning? Thanks.|||If a dealer used the vehicle, they may have never titled the car prior to 51,000 miles. I know of at least three trucks that have over 150,000 on them, and they still have not been titled. A dealer will many times will not title a vehicle that they are using in the dealership, either as a parts delivery car or as a company car for one of the employees.
There is no reason for a dealer to pay the tax and title fees, when they can stick a dealer tag on the vehicle and drive it. I have a van that I bought (used) in 2001. It is one that I use for transportation. I have driven it 85,000 miles and have not titled it in the dealership name.

I have never heard of the "gray market" before?
What is the "gray market?" What's the difference between the "black" market and the "gray market"|||The gray market is where genuine goods are offered for sale that do not belong within our country. The cost from overseas is usually less. Take for example:
I buy a Canon camera from a gray market dealer.
The camera is still a Canon camera but say a for spain model
The cameras warranty is not active here in the US.
The camera has a voice output that is supposed to tell me to use the flash and only speaks spanish.
I accept the spanish language limitation and buy the camera.

The prices may be lower than for white market goods, but the big thing to watch out for is that gray market items typically do not come with a warranty that is valid in the U.S. So you're essentially giving up any warranty protection in return for a lower price.
"Black market" goods would be counterfeit, stolen, or both.|||gray market isn't illegal, while black market is. gray market refers to those products that aren't available in the US, but are sold overseas. very common with consumer electronics, such as digital cameras, mp3 players, etc. gray market products are not covered by US warranties and have to be sent to the international warranty centers for repair.|||The grey market has to do with cars that are purchased in foreign countries by individuals and then imported into the US, as used cars, by those individuals and sold. They do not meet all the standands of cars that were imported through regular channels and sold as new cars.
The black market has to do with items that are sold illegally. A good example would be the booze that was sold during the prohabition days. It was illegal to sell booze.|||Gray market generally refers to something that is not specifically illegal, but is not specifically legal either.
A good example is cars imported from foreign countries that were not originally built to US specifications. The rules have changed significantly over the years but back in the early 1980s it was pretty easy to import a German spec Mercedes to the US and then convert it to US standards. These cars didn't have the DOT/EPA certification label on them but were still "legal" as far as the law at the time was concerned.
Another definition might be were there are conflicts in the interpretation of a law such as the importation of legally prescribed drugs from Canada where precsription drug prices tend to be much lower than in the US.|||The Black Market deals in illegally obtained goods (usually stolen) that the marketeers will sell for whatever price they can get. Gray Market refers to merchandise that is obtained by legal means but is then later sold without the consent of the manufacturer. A good example of this is Rolex watches. Does Canon repair gray market cameras?
I just bought a Canon EOS Rebel Xsi from an online retailer. The problem is that it didn't come with any sort of warranty. There was no warranty card in the box, so I think that it might be gray market. Does Canon honor the limited warranty, as long as I have the receipt of purchase? Also is there any way to tell if the camera I bought is gray market or not?|||Neither Canon nor Nikon will repair gray-market cameras (even if you're willing to pay for it) %26amp; there's no law that will force them to. Like one answerer stated, you could send it to Japan where they will fix it.
I'm in camera sales %26amp; I've seen it plenty of times: someone asks me all the questions, finds it online for a couple of $$ less, has a problem, and whines to me when the manufacturer won't fix it. I tell them that if you didn't buy it from me and got shafted, why should I help?
The whole thing about "gray" is that it was bought outside of the normal channel. That means Canon USA didn't make any money from it %26amp; you want them to reward you by fixing your problem. If you saved more than $50 from a store, I can almost guarantee it's gray. Some places even "upgrade" your package with third-party batteries %26amp; lenses. You'll also often see a restocking fee if you send it back that will wipe out any savings you thought you were getting.
You have 2 choices:
Return it %26amp; buy it at a real camera store, or hope nothing ever goes wrong %26amp; you don't need any help with it.|||Canon by law has to honor anything that they manufactured if it is a fault on their part and not normal wear and tear no matter where you purchased your camera. A Canon rep will most likely not agree with you, but that's not what the law says... if it is a real manufacturer's defect, you have a lifetime implied warranty on the product... if it is a real defect THAT CANON IS RESPONSIBLE FOR, you can call Canon and ask them to fix it, if they do not, you can drive down to your local court-house and file a small claims suit against them... you have the legal right to do that... now if YOU caused the problem like took the camera for a swim, or left it in the cold, or simply dropped it, well, then you're out of luck...
PS alternatively you can file with the Better Business Bureau... they are probably a little easier to deal with, but it will take longer for your claim to get processed...|||I think you should read these articles.

Your camera may have been a "refurbished" (used, but fixed up for resale) model.
As to gray market vs. USA warranties, the camera manufacturers will repair your camera but (and this is a big "but") your camera will have to be sent overseas for the warrantee repairs and that can take weeks and subjects the camera to the risks of international shipping. For professional photographers and people who just want their camera back quickly it is better just to pay the few extra dollars for the USA market ("non-gray market") so the camera will get serviced faster. I've seen situations where the gray market cameras were only slightly cheaper. To me it just makes sense to stay away from the gray market stuff and to stay with major camera retailers like Adorama, Calumet, B%26amp;H Photo, etc. Ignore the ones that give you absurdly low prices - they are usually scams - the best deal isn't always the lowest price.

Also consider Ritz and Amazon and local retailers - sometimes it pays to go directly to a camera retailer for after the sale service.|||no, they will not

The PS2 was never grey, it was always black (until the PS3 slim came out with multiple colors). The PS1 however was grey, and as for finding a PS1, it would be very hard to find one. Your best option would be to check ebay.|||$129.99 Bestbuy|||Rs 3500 is the best price to buy ps2|||in both the ways it should not cost you more than 10,000. grey i think it will cost you around 7000. try electrical palace in palika to buy it or some shop named royal in the same place. check this out for more info

Grey market?????????????????????????
ummm... the Market has always been green. Thats Google's Standard design for Market... if it was grey, then you either 1) had app issue, 2) a cache issue, 3) ROM issues 4) had a grey theme market ROM installed.......... Market App updates pretty regularly... if it was a app or ROM issue, then the auto update when you lasted turned it on would have wiped that error (grey) away for good... really is no way to go back to grey... well, there is... but it will go back to grey when you re-open it... LMAO (again---due to the update)
sorry... Go Green!

I want buy a canon 40d. What is the differancen in a gray market camera and a usa model?
Canon USA will not service it if it needs repair.|||Stay away from gray market. There is no US warranty. buy from a place like circuit city or best buy. or a camera shop. But go with the 50d. new model. same camera just a higher mp. but stay away from anything gray.|||besides the warranty...there's really no difference...I've purchased gray market lens and had no problems. IMO, for the price of the 50D, I'd rather stick with the 40D and get a lens.
Where does gray market merchandise come from?
I'm a car audio enthusiast, and most internet retailers, even very reputable ones, sell equipment at deeply discounted prices. However, almost all of these retailers are UN-authorized by manufacturers to sell their products. To my knowledge, these retailers remove serial numbers from all unauthorized products to protect their suppliers. Furthermore, manufacturers do not honor warranties for products purchased at unauthorized dealers.
I'm not really familiar with how things are distributed from the manufacturer to the retailer, so my quesitons are:
What does a distribution chain look like? And why can't manufacturers stop unauthorized retailers from obtaining and selling their products? Where in chain does the product become "unauthorized?"
Thanks!|||Generally, the distribution and pricing models vary a lot from one product to the next. It's common to have a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP). However, via distribution contracts you can limit the rights of the retailers in most any way both companies can agree on. This includes setting standardized prices and preventing the retailer from selling the product to another store chain for resale (redistribution).
Suppose Burton Snowboards exclusively distributes snowboards to specific "authorized" retailers who have agreed to and signed distributor contracts. Among other things, these contracts may disallow further redistribution or resale to other stores. If Costco is selling Burton boards and never signed the necessary contracts to become an authorized retailer, then one of Burton's authorized retailers must have violated their contract to resell to Costco. If that's the case, then Burton can talk to some lawyers to get it all sorted out =)

Is my gray market Sony Ericsson W810i locked?
I'm in India. I bought a Sony Ericsson W810i at a gray market shop not connected to any service provider. It was brand new still sealed in the original packaging. I took my SIM card out of my old phone, put it in the W810i, and it worked immediately. The phone also works here with SIM cards from other service providers. When I return to the States, will I be able to put my T-Mobile SIM card in and use the phone immediately or will I have to get it unlocked first?|||Nope your cellphone is not locked. The fact that you can put differents sim card on your phone and can pick up different service provider means it's unlocked. And yes it will work in the US, your cellphone is a quadband so it's fine. We have the same phone though.
Whats the difference in import or gray market and usa or american model cameras?
i want to buy the olympus sp 590 uz and it retails 499 can get around 350, but found import for 240. i know about lacking in warrranty, i am fine with that, i can buy a warranty, but about the camera itself, will the functions on it be in english?|||the grey market ones suck, often don't work, and they are in chinese or japanese. so unless you can read mandarin or japanese i would suggest avoiding it. also the instructions are in foreign languages, there are not warranties. so yes you will save 140 bucks, but you will still be losing the 350 bucks for something you can't really use.
also you can buy a warranty with the website not the company, and the websites aren't faithful to the warranty especially if the warranty costs a lot.
don't do it, pay the extra money for a real version on amazon or another trust worth website.

Does anyone know any good Gray Market sellers?
I am looking to do a little business with a gray market seller. They must have 100% authentic products at a discounted price. Thanks for any help!|||you need to specify what products you are interested in.
You also need to understand Gray market is not 100% authentic. Manufacturers do not honor warranties on gray market items.|||I have dealt in this area in both clothing and electronics and would recommend avoiding it, depending on what and how you are selling it. I have almost lost a lot of money a few times with even "reputable" sellers. Chances are you will be dealing with a middleman who despite his/her best intentions will endup losing your money. I dealt with someone on several shipments that went well until my last order was never fulfilled. It was not a matter of IF but WHEN I would get ripped off. Either ending up with terrible replicas, shipments being seized by customs ( you buy French goods from a seller in New York but the shipment comes from China...not a good sign), and your supplier's supplier scamming them.
You will also find that despite your best intentions of dealing in the Gray Market, you will most likely end up with Black market goods being passed as Gray or White ( yeah right) market authentic items.
Also if any item is very HOT and in demand, for example a specific trendy shirt or a new video game system like XBOX 360 before it came out, I can guarantee you anything you find will be a scam. If it's too good to be true, it is.
The only reliable alternative I was able to find was buying department store closeouts and returns. The problem there is you get a lot of defective items and your margins are low. But you get something authentic and legal. When you do it legally, you often find it's not worth doing. And when you do it "gray" you might make good profits until you get ripped off and lose it all or fined by customs, etc.

How are we going to pay off our debt when it becomes more profitable to work in the grey market?
Economists have stressed the negative aspects of informal trade for decades. Informal businesses often don't pay taxes, and they routinely lack the capital and expertise to be as productive as big enterprises, leading to less innovation and lower standards of living. Since informal workers lack health benefits and other safeguards, they have to save more for emergencies, resulting in less casual spending that further drags down growth. Having a big underground economy "is not something to be cheerful about," says Nancy Birdsall, an economist at the Center for Global Development, a Washington think tank. "When everybody is selling apples to each other, you're not creating new wealth -- it's not a sign that things are OK."
The frightening scale of the current recession is forcing some analysts to reconsider. As many as 52 million people could lose their jobs from the economic crisis world-wide, says the International Labour Organization, an agency of the United Nations. Without the informal sector, many of them will have nowhere to go.
Informal jobs "will absorb a lot of people and offer them a source of income" over the next year, says W.F. Maloney, an economist at the World Bank in Washington. Indeed, the jobs are "one reason that the situation in desperately poor countries isn't as bad as you'd think," says Simon Johnson, a former chief economist at the International Monetary Fund.

Thank you!|||They are it's like imported products that are cheaper.|||grey products are the one which were imported without paying any taxes. in simple words, itz the market of smuggled goods. thatz y these are economical compared to originally imported products.
it is also called parallel import.

The goods are most likely to be genuine but again, that is not assured. The one thing though, is that the goods are cheap!

|||The grey market (or gray market) usually refers to the flow of new goods through distribution channels other than those authorized or intended by the manufacturer or producer. The grey market may also refer to the 50-and-over age group in marketing terms.
Grey market goods are not generally illegal. Instead, they are being sold outside of normal distribution channels by companies which may have no relationship with the producer of the goods. Frequently this form of parallel import occurs when the price of an item is significantly higher in one country than another. This situation commonly occurs with cigarettes and electronic equipment such as cameras. Entrepreneurs buy the product where it is available cheaply, often at retail but sometimes at wholesale, import it legally to the target market and sell it at a price which provides a profit but which is below the normal market price there. This practice is also known as arbitrage.
International efforts to promote free trade, including reduced tariffs and harmonized national standards, facilitate the grey market where manufacturers attempt to preserve highly disparate pricing.
Because of the nature of grey markets, it is difficult or impossible to track the precise numbers of grey market sales.
On securities markets, grey market has a different meaning. It refers to the buying and selling of securities to be issued in the future and, therefore not yet circulating. This typically occurs some days before an auction of government bonds or bills and that trading is subject to the effective issue of those securities. Sometimes this is taken as a forecast of the prices that markets expect for future issues.

I have a gray market Cat excavator with a broken key, what can I do?
My kids broke the key on my Cat 380c excavator, but since it is a gray market machine im not sure if its fixable. Is the starting cylinder interchangeable? will the key be the same type? and my last question is since it was imported from Japan it doesn't have a us title so i dont have any proof of ownership so will the dealership still try to get the proper key or will think think its stolen?|||my experience with cat tractors is the they all use the same key.
i was fleet mechanic at a place with a variety of cat tractors, even had cat padlocks. same key worked on everything.
i ordered spare keys once, didnt need to prove any ownership, but it was a company account it got billed to from the dealership we bought the tractors from.|||You will not need any type of proof of ownership to get a new key. They do not individually key cat machines or most any construction or ag equipment. Just call or go to a dealer and get a key they can look it up by application. What is the grey market?
The grey market is a market that sells objects or other things to countries which they are not originally available example ebay. Example im in a country that does not produce or distribute laser pointers from within so the grey market sells me laser pointer.|||A grey market or gray market is the trade of a commodity through distribution channels which, while legal, are unofficial, unauthorized, or unintended by the original manufacturer. In contrast, a black market is the trade of goods and services that are illegal in themselves and/or distributed through illegal channels.
It is neither a 'white' market that sells goods that are 'clean'. Not smuggled. All above board.
Nor a Black market where illegal goods are sold for more its value.|||A grey market or gray market is the trade of a commodity through distribution channels which, while legal, are unofficial, unauthorized, or unintended by the original manufacturer. In contrast, a black market is the trade of goods and services that are illegal in themselves and/or distributed through illegal channels, such as the selling of stolen goods or illegal items such as heroin or unregistered handguns.
The two main types of grey market are imported manufactured goods that would be normally unavailable or more expensive in a certain country and unissued securities that are not yet traded in official markets. Sometimes the term dark market is used to describe secretive, unregulated (though often technically legal) trading in commodity futures, notably crude oil in 2008[1]. This can be considered a third type of "grey market" since it is legal, yet unregulated, and probably not intended or explicitly authorized by oil producers.
The gray market, while not illegal like the black market, involves the sale of goods through means other than what was intended or approved by the original maker of a product. A private person or business purchases the good at retail, wholesale, or a discounted price, and attempts to resell it legally at a higher price. The list of things that can be sold on the gray market is endless, but popular items include electronics, photographic equipment, cigarettes, DVDs and wine. The term gray market can also refer to the securities market, where it defines the buying and selling of securities that will be issued at some point in the future.
The gray market is extremely hard to track, because once a good is sold to an unauthorized dealer, the manufacturer has no way of tracking the sale of the goods. The gray market exists just about everywhere. In the suburbs, one prime example is the snack stand at a high school football game. In an effort to raise money, the student council may purchase soda, hot dogs and chips at a wholesale warehouse store like Costco, then sell them for a profit at the game. Another good example of the gray market is when someone buys goods at a garage sale or outlet store and resells them on eBay at a higher price.|||The business of buying or selling goods, such as imports, at prices below those set by an official regulatory agency.

Consumer goods: sale of products by unauthorized dealers, frequently at discounted prices. Consumers who buy gray market goods may find that the manufacturer refuses to honor the product warranty. In some cases, gray market goods may be sold in a country they were not intended for, so, for example, instructions may be in another language than the home market language.
Securities: sale of securities that have not officially been issued yet by a firm that is not a member of the underwriting syndicate. Such trading in the when-issued, or gray, market can provide a good indication of the amount of demand for an upcoming new stock or bond issue.

What is grey market ? in stock exchange ?
Grey market is most typically used in reference to goods that are imported from overseas, but sold in the USA. (Huh?) These goods are not slated for sale in the US, they do not carry US warranties, and if they break, you are out of luck.
Example: If there is a particular camera model that is for sale in Japan, and possibly the US. You want to buy that camera, but do not like the price tag. Then you see a store in Chinatown selling it (cash discount) for about 30% off. Odds are, that is a grey market camera.
It was imported to the US through unofficial channels (not by the manufacturer or official distributor) and does not carry a US warranty. But, it is the real deal, it is not counterfeit, it comes with all the accessories, etc...
Now, as to stocks, and the term Grey Market, well, I don't have any idea. Have you tried Yahoo! Answers?|||I recently took a marketing class in school and a gray market was defined as flow of products through distribution channels other than those intended by the manufacturer or producer. I guess this can be related to stocks if they are sold through channels that are not typical or not authorized. Wikipedia says gray markets are not always illegal.

Is pirated version of vista avilable in the grey market?
microsoft said that it is impossible for pirates to do such things like selling pirated copies of vista?|||Let me know, I need a copy too.|||Since it is in Beta 2, you can download it for free and burn it onto a DVD or even order the DVD to be delivered, you pay shipping. Along with doing that you are able to get what they call Release Candidate 1 as part of the deal.
Once Microsoft actually releases it next year, pirated version will be all over the place, but like previously stated once Microsoft gets the pirated keys then you will not be able to update your software leaving you vulnerable to security threats and risks.
Link for Beta 2 information: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/ge鈥?/a>|||Yes. Here in Korea you can buy a pirated vista OS for about 10 bucks. BUT it is the Beta 2 you can download off the Microsoft website. I did hear though that in places like China and Singapore you can get a full working pirated version. Since Vista doesnt launch until 07 im sure its either the Beta 2 or a stolen copy.
I bought XP Media Center 2005 and XP Pro 2006 when I went to China a few weeks ago. They both work perfectly fine and havnt done anyhting to my computer yet and it only cost me like $30|||I wouldnt use a pirated version of vista, if you ever try to connect to the internet to update it , its going to check the serial number. And i can gurantee if 1 person has it, 100 do, and microsoft will blacklist that serial number asap, even causing you the chance of being thrown in jail.Best bet would be to download the Beta version or buy it when its out. PS: to download the beta version you need high speed internet, and a DvD burner to create the install disc, Or you can just order a beta copy and pay for shipping|||Impossible is a very strong word... I'd be very surprised if no one found a way to sell full copies or some working variant of the bits.
But as a word of caution, running a pirated OS isn't a great plan. You know the people you buy or download it from aren't trustworthy, since they're ripping off the company, and you know they're good enough to circumvent whatever copy protection is used. What's to stop them from setting up a rootkit at install time? You couldn't ever really trust the machine to be secure or reliable, even if it looks okay on the surface.

Is it okay for a Christian to be involved in the "gray market" business?
The gray market business involves telling lies, cutting corners, dishonesty, withholding/distorting information. All this goes against the teaching of the Bible. Please let me know your views. Do not let my views alter yours. There is an important decision for me to make and your inputs would be valuable.|||isnt it called "The Black Market??|||If you are feeling so guilty that you have to ask, then no, it isn't. sounds like you are involved in the Government. 3. Discuss the challenges involved in targeting the grey market.?
Finding grey market products and activities can be the toughest. there are a million different nooks and crannies online where people can sell these items, and it can be difficult to track. There are a few companies that specialize in finding all grey market and map policy violation sellers online; one I saw called Channel IQ (http://www.channeliq.com) can automate it and track all sellers on an hour by hour or daily basis. I think other companies do similar things, but not as fast and automated.
Where can one buy a grey market camera?
like a Canon Mark 3 ds....|||B-H in New York sells grey market cameras along with models for the US. B-H clearly states when it is a grey market camera. There is no effort to hide anything. You can save some money, but not enough to be worth the risk to me.
In the past a grey market device would not have an English manual, it would be in the language of the designated country. Now, most manuals cover many languages so that is not too much of an issue. However, some markings, wording, or units of measure on a grey market device may not be in English.
Again, the money saved is not worth it. You just have to turn around and purchase a Mac warranty.
steve|||I totally agree with Dan L. Why on earth would you want to buy a gray market expensive camera? You might save a few bucks, but as he said, the warranty is no good. If you ever had a problem, you would be out the money you paid. Or you would have to pay for having it fixed.|||You can easily find it by searching on Yahoo or other search engines. Just search for the name of the camera and you will find lots of retailers. Many of them import from other countries to take advantage of exchange rates and offer a slightly lower price. However, the real reason I am writing this is to give you warning. If you ever have a problem with the camera, Canon will not honor the warranty. If you want a camera with warranty, then buy from an authorized retailer.
