How does a customer know which subaru wrx is genuine for uk market as grey imports bad news?

in may 04 new wrx very poor car main dealer supply so p ex in july 05 new wrx sl saloon only to suffer gearbox rebuild at 900 miles more suspicious still car hand brushed black underseal also new clutch slave cylinder new discs front all on new 05 car very odd and unacceptable con|||If you are in any doubt, take the car to a Subaru main agency. They can enter the chassis number in to their data base and this will tell immediately if the car is a Uk or aGrey import spec. If they wont do this freely, ask to order a part for the car. You will have to give them the Chassis number and this again will tell you the origin of the car. Have you checked the chassis number of the car yourself? All cars supplied for markets outside of Japan have 17 digits in the number. A UK spec car should read JF1 followed by a combination of another 14 letters and finally numbers. Japanese cars have an 11 digit number. Most main agencies should be willing to help out or at least gloat over the origin of the car.Good luck.|||first place to look is the lights if its a genuine uk mkt car it will have type approval lenses on all lights look for a capital e in a circle a lot of grey imports have some lenses changed but not all

if still suspicious take it to subaru main agent who can look up the engine chassis on the data base|||Think the UK ones had side airbags(tag on front seats) and imports haven't.
