Is it worth buying a modded PS3 from grey market? Whats price from a grey market and advantages/disadvantages?

I am really confused about whether to buy a PS3 original or from grey market. Grey market is obviously cheaper and games might also be cheaper in future, but modding a PS3 might spoil the console. Please advise.|||To my knowledge, there are no modded PS3s out in the 'grey market' as you refer to it. Unlike the Wii and XBox360, the PS3 has not been cracked, or if it has its not widely known. One of the reasons for this is that in addition to security being quite advanced on the PS3, the device includes a very expensive custom Blu-ray drive which most modders have found uneconomical to experiment on. I've only heard of homebrew mods to PS3, and I don't recommend you walk down that path unless you are a specialist at these things.





If someone is promoting a 'modded' PS3 to you I would advise you to be very careful about it, because as I've mentioned, I am not aware of any significant developments in that respect. If anything you may just be being conned, so I would recommend you avoid the modding/pirated PS3 games path.





I don't know what 'grey market' region you are referring to, but the only advantage I'm aware of for PS3 from a grey market is cheaper price for machine and legit games, as I have not heard of mods. You may also be able to get 60GB or 20GB machines, which were discontinued earlier (probably at a premium price), with superior PS2 game backwards compatibility.





The disadvantages I can imagine may be lack of a warranty, damaged boxing/product, and missing items that are normally included in the package (i.e. no controller, missing cables, etc.). In general, I advise you be careful of such shops and if you must go, make sure you check what you are buying back to front before any purchases.|||i think you shouldnt buy

i btrought a ps2 from pallika bazzar it was a flop show they were not able to mend it n plus thre is no warranty because threr is no bill


then i brought an x box 360 fer 36ooo rupees it got the red ring of death n again they were not able to mend it...


it was not launched in india so there wee no service centre plus no bill that i can get it exchanged


so my 900 $ twice got wasted


so ever if u wanna buy something from grey market just get the portable things like psp n iphone i got my iphone from threr


now i also have a ps3 but its not from grey market


that guy was also offerning ipod 80 gb but i refused..


i got a psp i asked fer original games he said buy the pirated ones n i know that it will ruin it


plus i must tell u once i wanted 2 buy games fer x box 360 they were all repacked now a dayz its not difficlult 2 repack so i suggest u should buy it from sony world or some authorised dealer because by chance it it crashes or something u wll have to spend double!|||last I knew, you could NOT mod a PS3. so I would advise against buying it when the PS3 has yet to be hacked. in other words, it's probably not modded and you're just buying a regular PS3.
