Have bought D40 camera from the grey market, was not provided with the manual, how can i get my camera insured?

You can get the manual here:

Check with your homeowners or renter insurance company if they automatically cover a camera, some do, for some you have to get an addition to the insurance, called floater that will list your valuables that you want to insure in addition to the home itself.

If you're talking about warranty - I'm afraid you're out of luck. Once you have the camera in your possession, no warranty company will know if you want to buy warranty just in case, or because you already discovered a problem, and want to get out of it cheap. You should have bought warranty when you purchased the camera. Other than that, I think if you do run into a problem, as a last measure you can send the camera back to the country it was originally made for to get service... Though I think you may be better off just paying the bill.

Think of it this way:

You saved some money by buying gray market item. So that's your chance you've taken. Paid less for a chance that you may have to pay more if it breaks. If you buy a lot of gray market stuff, then if one of the things breaks within warranty period, you may end up paying less for repairs than the total amount you saved on all those items together you didn't have to fix...

LEM.|||The above answer is absolutely correct. One more bit of news you really need to know.

Nikon will NOT repair a grey market camera, even if you offer to pay for the service. If you need repair, you'll have to find an independent service center.
