Grey market cameras? oh and canon 1100D vs Nikon D3100?

i was looking at buying the nikon d3100 from ebay for $579 it comes with a one year warrenty from the seller but because it was originally brought from over seas (grey market) then it doesnt have the Nikon australian Warrenty. is this a major issue? would you or wouldnt you buy it?

oh and canon 1100D vs Nikon D3100?|||I've bought my entire collection of Canon Cameras, Lenses, and accessories off the so called ''Grey'' marketeers. Never ever had a problem. There are some huge companies with massive turnovers. They don't get that big by selling garbage and or ripping off their customers. What I find amusing is the overwhelming majority of people who complain in the forums about having to return Canon products for repair under warranty are Americans who bought through the so called legitimate outlets. You want the Nikon D3100? $464 body only from DWI. Yes they do import from Hong Kong but I have never had a problem with these guys. Example. I went into a Harvey Norman outlet in Brisbane and priced the Canon 580 EX II just before Xmas. They wanted $750! I went home and ordered it from DWI. The order went through at 5pm that Friday afternoon and I received it by courier at 8.30 am Monday morning from their Australian warehouse. Cost? $450! I then ordered another $2000 worth of stuff that took a week to arrive but that wasn't bad considering it was during the Xmas period. P.S. You won't have any problems with that company you're considering purchasing from. None at all. They have to abide by Australian laws to operate in Australia, and like I said these are big concerns who didn't get this big by ripping people off! Only fools pay the ridiculous prices the so called authorized dealers charge!|||I wouldn't buy it

1. you don't know how the camera has been handled at all

2. warranty can be an issue. If something goes wrong, you're out $2000+ for a plane ticket to come to the US or another big chunk of change to send it here

spend the extra money and get a brand new camera from a local shop or online (that isn't grey market)

as for the 1100D vs the D3100, the D3100 compares more to the 500D, which is a step up from the 1100D|||I would recommend never buying anything expensive or electronic from ebay just because you never know what you're going to get. Spend the extra money and buy it locally from a store. As for 1100D vs D3100, I have no idea =(|||Buy? Come to England, they are flying off the shelves for nothing.

Buyer beware is the Ebay motto..
